From David Harrington:

I want to thank my parents for teaching me, by example, about sharing knowledge to help others. I also want to thank those at Walter P. Moore for their support over the years for my extracurricular activities. Because of Ray and Richard, I was able to ride the leading edge of technology without bleeding as well. I would like to thank AUGI and all the volunteers who make this great organization beneficial to all who partake of it. To Autodesk, of course, for making a program that would provide me a means to earn a living. To the Beta Programs group, who make it possible to produce these books in concert with the software development. Thanks also to Shaan Hurley for helping clear up the late-night confusion in writing this book. I want to thank Phillip Shivel for stepping in to technical edit at a moment’s notice; Theresa Gheen for providing guidance under extreme deadlines; and to Steve Weiss at New Riders for the words of encouragement and for thinking of me when the book needed work! I would also like to recognize the huge contribution to this book by Dave Pitzer and Bill Burchard, whose thoroughness has made the process of updating for 2002 better than expected. Lastly I want to thank Greg Robinson for prodding me years ago to learn this program myself. Without that I would still be cleaning pen nibs.

From Bill Burchard:

I wish to thank my friends and family for their support while writing this book, and I especially wish to thank my wife and daughters for their support and their tolerance, while I spent six months of our lives dedicated to this book project. I also wish to thank my friends and associates at Psomas for their help, guidance, and support with my endeavors. Special thanks to Craig Gooch, Jerry Wagner, Blake Murillo, and Sherri Bayer. I wish to thank Autodesk for its support, with thanks to Mike Phillips, Shawn Gilmour, and Cynde Hargrave. Finally, I want to express my gratitude and thanks to this book’s project team—Dave Pitzer, David Harrington, and Steve Weiss—without whom this book would not have been possible.

From David Pitzer:

I wish to acknowledge the contributions and assistance of the following people: Ron LaFon for helping me keep my computer running virus-free and for keeping all the software necessary to write a large-scale book about AutoCAD up to date; Tony Peach of Autodesk for being there when questions needed answering; Nancy Moss and Cynde Hargrave of Autodesk for helping to get information from dozens of people; Steve Weiss of New Riders Publishing for pulling it all together and keeping me on track; and lastly to Sylvester Katz for first showing me AutoCAD 12 years ago.

From New Riders:

A special thanks to Andreja Prevarek, technical reviewer and consultant, for her unceasing efforts to make New Riders AutoCAD books the best in the world.
