Greater Customization

One of the reasons for AutoCAD’s wide acceptance and popularity over the last decade is its open architecture and ease of user customization.

Visual LISP

AutoCAD 2000 takes the most popular of AutoCAD’s programming interfaces— AutoLISP—and extends its usability by incorporating Visual LISP. Visual LISP updates and modernizes the AutoLISP environment and provides a complete LISP development environment inside AutoCAD. The Visual LISP interface is shown in Figure 1.28, and you can read more about customization with AutoLISP in Chapter 22, “Introduction to AutoLISP Programming.” Other customization topics are discussed in Chapter 21, “Customizing Without Programming.”
