Chapter 33. Advanced Customization > Creating Menu Macros

Creating Menu Macros

Now that you have a basic understanding of the ***Aux, ***Buttons, and ***Pop sections of an AutoCAD menu, it is time to learn how to build new menu items and place them into a menu. To do this you need to know the special codes used in menu macros. If you want to include command parameters in a menu item, you need to know the sequence in which the command expects its parameters. Every character in a menu macro is significant, even blank spaces. We will devote our attention to the ***Pop menu section; however, with little or no revision, most menu macros work equally well in other menu sections.

NOTE

If command input comes from a menu item, the settings of the PICKADD and PICKAUTO system variables are assumed to be 1 and 0, respectively. This preserves compatibility with previous releases of AutoCAD and makes customization easier because you are not required to check the settings of these variables.
