x How to use this book and CD Equipment needed All that's needed, for the projects and examples, is a Mac or PC powerful enough to run a version of Logic 5, or higher, Platinum, Gold or Audio, equipped with a suitable sound card, a large, fast hard drive and decent monitor speakers. A keyboard and MIDI interface will be needed for working through the projects. Some of these include audio recording as an option. For this you will need a microphone and possibly an external mixer. Most projects contain MIDI tracks, and for this you will need a General MIDI sound source. This can be a keyboard with onboard GM sounds, a sound card containing a GM sound set, a software synthesizer such as QuickTime Musical Instruments or an external sound module such as a Roland Sound Canvas.
