Preparing a Project for CD Audio

A project can’t be laid down as audio tracks on a CD as is. Instead, you have to convert all your MIDI tracks in a project to audio tracks. Then you have to export those audio tracks to a WAV file so that your CD recording software can write the file to your CD. To do so, you need to follow a number of steps, which the following sections will detail.

Converting Your MIDI Tracks

As I explained in Chapter 2, you really shouldn’t use Sound Blaster and other similar consumer-level sound cards for serious music making. But if you happen to have one of these cards that provides a built-in synthesizer, the first step is to convert any MIDI tracks that use your sound card’s built-in synthesizer for playback to audio tracks as follows:
