Recording Your Tracks

Recording Your Tracks

  1. Create a new track and set it up, typing in a name and choosing an input and output in the Track view.

  2. Enter initial values for the Volume and Pan parameters, if needed.

  3. If the track is for audio, you can skip this step; otherwise, for a MIDI track, choose values for the Channel, Bank, and Patch parameters.

  4. Set the record mode using the Record Options dialog box.

  5. Arm the track and set your input signal level.

  6. Click on the Record button and start your performance.

  7. If you need to add data to only a certain part of the track, use the Auto Punch Record mode and set the Punch In and Punch Out times. You can also use the Loop toolbar to set loop points and have SONAR loop a certain section of the song for recording in only that section.

  8. Repeat steps 1 through 7 for every track you need to complete your song.

  9. Save your project.

For more information, refer to Chapter 6.
