Chapter 15. CAL 101 > The CAL Files

The CAL Files

To give you a better understanding of how CAL works and how you can benefit from it, I’ll describe the prewritten CAL programs included with SONAR in the following sections. I’ll give you a brief description of what each program does and how to use it.

Dominant 7th Chord.CAL

The Dominant 7th Chord.CAL program builds dominant seventh chords by adding three notes with the same time, velocity, and duration to each selected MIDI note in a track. In other words, if you select a note within a track and you run Dominant 7th Chord.CAL, the program treats the selected note as the root of a dominant seventh chord and adds a minor third, a perfect fifth, and a minor seventh on top of it, thus creating a dominant seventh chord automatically.
