Part IV: Working With MIDI >  Recording MIDI Tracks

Chapter 14. Recording MIDI Tracks

Now that you've got a solid grasp of how SONAR displays and manages MIDI data, it's time to generate some of your own Note Ons and Note Offs. The process is quite similar to the process of recording audio, so most of what you learned in Chapter 9 will apply here as well. As you've seen, though, MIDI is more flexible than audio, so you have some additional options that can help you achieve great performances. Of course, you've still got Undo for those occasional less-than-great performances. In this chapter you will learn how to:

  • Choose your MIDI inputs and outputs

  • Configure the metronome

  • Set up a MIDI track for recording

  • Record, Punch Record, and Loop Record MIDI
