Using the Bus Pane

A bus can be thought of as an internal audio pathway, kind of like a virtual audio cable that you can use to connect from some internal source to some internal destination. It's a powerful way to be able to group signals together for efficient processing or to recombine them in a way that is different from the main output. In this first section we'll create a few buses that we'll then use through the rest of the chapter. Let's make a clean start by creating a blank project.

NOTE

Some of the procedures in this chapter assume that you have a multichannel audio interface. If you have a stereo (two-channel) interface, your capabilities will be somewhat reduced, but the same principles apply.
