Chapter 9 . External Control of Reason > Synchronizing Reason to Another Comput...

Synchronizing Reason to Another Computer

Another way Reason can be controlled externally is to have another computer tell Reason when to start and when to stop, otherwise known as external synchronizing. Why might you want to do this? Many people dedicate one computer for Reason and use a different computer to run their other music and recording software—such as Cubase SX or SONAR—for reasons of CPU efficiency, so that each application has all the computer resources it needs to run well. In these cases, it is possible to have the Cubase or SONAR computer control Reason on the second computer. Some users also work with video, and it’s possible to have video equipment control the playback of Reason. In the next example, you’ll learn how to set up Reason to slave to another computer.

Again, first walk through the steps to set up things properly.
