Chapter 9 . External Control of Reason

Chapter 9 . External Control of Reason

After looking at all the knobs, sliders, and faders of Reason’s devices, you may be wondering if there is an easier way to control them, since it can be difficult to achieve precise control using a mouse. That’s where external controllers come in. Reason offers MIDI control support, which allows you to use your MIDI controller to do more than just play notes—you can also use it to control some of those knobs, faders, and sliders. In addition, Reason’s transport controls can be controlled from an external device (or even from another computer). In this chapter, you’ll learn how to:

Set up and enable Reason for remote control.

Assign MIDI commands to control device parameters.

Control Reason’s transport from your MIDI controller.

Synchronize Reason to another computer.
