Chapter 7. Processing Audio Using Audiosuite Plug-Ins

Chapter 7. Processing Audio Using Audiosuite Plug-Ins

During editing, it might be necessary to process audio files and make changes for editorial reasons. These changes to the audio files could include time compression or expansion, reversing, pitch changing for certain effects, and envelope alignment for matching dialog takes. These changes should be permanent and cannot run in real time like plug-ins used during mixing.

Pro Tools allows offline processing of audio outside of the mixing abilities of TDM and RTAS plug-in environments. The Audiosuite versions of plug-ins are used to perform this offline processing; they can be accessed from the Audiosuite menu. In most cases, every plug-in you have available in either TDM or RTAS will have an Audiosuite equivalent. Certain plug-ins, like reverse, time compression/expansion, and tone generator are only available as Audiosuite plug-ins due to the nature of how they operate.
