Chapter 3. Working with Tracks > Adding a Real Instrument Track

Adding a Real Instrument Track

When you create a Real Instrument track, the program asks you to choose an instrument for the track. This is more of a convenience than a necessity. GarageBand's Real Instruments are actually presets that include settings for effects, such as echo, reverb, and compression, that Apple's engineers think would enhance the instrument you're about to record. When you choose an instrument, you also get a lovely icon that helps to identify your track. You can always change any of these settings later, using the Track Info window (see “About the Track Info Window” later in this chapter).
