Changing a Track's Instrument

Changing the instrument assigned to a track has very different consequences for Real and Software Instruments. As discussed earlier, a Real Instrument is just a collection of effects settings. Say that you create a Real Instrument track using the Solo Sax instrument and record a performance of a live saxophone player into it. If you switch the track's instrument to Pop Vocals, the basic instrumental sound of the track won't change. The effects that are part of the Pop Vocals preset will be applied to your recording, so its acoustical aura will change, but it will still sound like a saxophone.
