Setting the Output Volume

The last step you need to take before exporting your song to iTunes is to use the master volume slider to set the song's output level. Even if you've been assiduously tweaking track levels and the master volume curve to rid the song of clipping, listen to the entire song one more time while keeping a close eye on the master level meters. The master level meters work identically to the individual track level meters and include a clipping indicator that lights up red when clipping is encountered (see “Using the Track Level Meters” in Chapter 6). Adjust the master volume slider until the clipping indicators no longer come on while the song is playing.
