Chapter 10. Editing MIDI Data > Editing Notes Using Notation View

Editing Notes Using Notation View

Using notation view to edit notes in the track editor is much like using graphic view. (In fact, I recommend that you familiarize yourself with the techniques described earlier in this chapter before using notation view.) You select the note or notes you want to work with. When selected, notes display a duration bar, which shows how long the note is held. Once a note is selected, you can change its velocity or duration or delete it entirely. Drag a note with the mouse to change its pitch or location in time. Use the mouse plus the Command key to add new notes. The standard cut, copy, and paste editing functions do not seem to work, at least not in GarageBand 2.0.
