About Effects

Effects manipulate the sound of a track or a song electronically to enhance its sound or change the sound's color. For example, one of the most common effects is reverb (short for reverberation), which electronically alters the acoustical environment of a sound. A performance might be recorded in an acoustically dry setting, for example, like a recording studio, but with the application of reverb, the recording can sound like it was made in a large church or a tiled bathroom.
