Lesson 10. Automating the Mix > What You've Learned

What You've Learned

  • To create a node, click inside the HyperDraw area or the automation track.

  • To move a node, grab it and drag it to a new position.

  • To delete a node, click it quickly.

  • To create an automation curve in Logic Pro, hold down Ctrl-Option and then drag the line between two nodes. The type of automation curve you create is dependent upon whether you drag the line up, down, right, or left.

  • To enable or disable Track Automation in the Arrange window, choose View > Track Automation.

  • Automation modes (and not the Transport's Record button) determine how Logic records Track Automation.

  • In general, it's best to use the Touch or Latch modes to record automation because they do so for only the parameter you are currently moving.

  • The Write mode overwrites all automation data.

  • Automation Quick Access is used to assign automation to a slider or knob on a hardware MIDI controller keyboard. Setting up Quick Access is done in the Track Automation Settings window.
