Lesson 10. Controlling Signal Flow > Using Aux Channels for Bus Returns

Using Aux Channels for Bus Returns

The submix channel you just created works well enough but lacks an important element needed in the signal chain; busses do not have an effects Send. Without the Send, you cannot assign the submix-processed tracks containing the backing vocals to any reverbs configured on Bus Objects.

By their very nature, Sends (which are the busses) are not available directly on Bus channels. You need to feed the output of the bus to another type of Object, an Aux channel. An Aux (short for auxiliary) channel has Sends similar to those of an audio track but, unlike an audio track, it can be set to receive input directly from a Bus channel.
