Using Buses

A bus allows you to manipulate several tracks at once, as if they were one individual track. Applying a real-time effect to a bus in one shot is significantly easier on your computer's resources than applying the same effect to the tracks individually. You can create up to 26 buses.

To create a bus

1.
Choose Window > Mixers.

2.
Click the Bus Mixer tab.

The Bus Mixer tab of the Mixers window opens (Figure 8.51).

3.
Click the New button.

The Bus Properties dialog box opens (Figure 8.52).

4.
Choose an output device for the bus and, if you wish, a name.

5.
In the Installed Real-Time Effects pane, select effects you want available for your bus and click Add to move them to the Current Effects Rack pane.

6.
Click OK.

The bus appears on the Bus Mixer tab of the Mixers window.
