Chapter 9. Multichannel Audio > Saving Multichannel Audio

Saving Multichannel Audio

When you've tweaked, panned, and set up envelopes for all your tracks and channels and you're satisfied with your multichannel mix, it's time to save your work and export it to a file. You have several choices for exporting audio in the Multichannel Export Options dialog box.

To export multichannel audio to a file

1.
Click the Export button on the right side of the Multichannel Encoder window, under the waveform display.

The Multichannel Export Options dialog box appears (Figure 9.13).

2.
In the Multichannel Session Name field, enter a name you'd like Audition to use for any files that are generated.

3.
In the Save In field, specify a folder where you want your files saved.

4.
Set export options to one of the following:

  • Export as Six Individual Mono Wave Files: Saves your six surround-sound channels as individual files in WAV format.

  • Export as One Interleaved, 6-Channel Wave File: Saves your surround-sound mix in a single file in a WAV format that can be used with Dolby Digital encoders.

  • Export and Encode as Windows Media Audio Pro 6-Channel File: Saves your surround-sound mix to a WMA file that can be played back on a multichannel-enabled Windows XP computer running Windows Media Player 9 or later.

5.
Set other options in the windows and fields below (these will differ according to your selected export format; see the sidebar “A Few Notes on Formats and Compression”).

6.
Click OK.

Your multichannel-audio masterpiece is saved.
