Chapter 4. Managing Audio Files > Using the Files Tab

Using the Files Tab

In Edit, Multitrack, and CD Project views, you can use the Organizer window's Files tab to easily manage your files (Figure 4.1). The Files tab lists all open audio, MIDI, and video files. From there, you can choose to edit your files, bring them into an open Multitrack session or CD playlist, or close them. You activate these tasks using the buttons at the top of the Files tab.

  • The Import File button enables you to browse to and open the audio, MIDI, and video files you want to use.

  • The Close File button closes the files currently selected on the Files tab list.

  • The Insert into Multitrack button moves the selected files to a session in the Multitrack view. If you insert more than one file, Audition inserts each one into its own track.

  • The Insert into CD Project button moves the selected files to a playlist in the CD Project view.

  • The Edit File button moves the selected file to the Edit view for editing.

  • The Advanced Options button toggles between hiding and showing the advanced options at the bottom of the Organizer window. These include options for choosing the file types displayed in the list, whether to show full paths for your files, and settings for previewing your files.
