Adding or Removing Silence

Sometimes, you may want to add silence to an audio file. Whether you want to mute part of your waveform and replace it with a silent pause of the same length, or insert a specific amount of new silence in the middle of the waveform, Audition makes the job easy.

There are two ways to add silence to your waveform: replacing an existing section with silence, but keeping the duration the same; or inserting several seconds or more of silence into the waveform, which increases its overall length by the duration of the insertion.
