Chapter 5. Editing Sound > Selecting Frequencies in Spectral View

Selecting Frequencies in Spectral View

You can use Spectral view within Edit view to select and edit particular frequencies. (For an introduction to Spectral view, see Chapter 1.) Selecting frequencies can be especially handy in restoration work; if you're working on a file with distortion that's limited to the higher frequencies, for example, you can select just those frequencies in Spectral view and edit them, leaving the other frequencies unchanged.

To select frequencies in Spectral view

  • Click the Marquee Selection tool on the toolbar (Figure 5.8) and drag across the desired frequencies in the Display window.

Once you've made your selection (Figure 5.9), you can drag it to move it, or click an edge or corner to fine-tune its size.
