Chapter 11. Audio Restoration

Chapter 11. Audio Restoration

Many of us enjoy hearing old recordings. Old records that meant something to us at a particular moment in time can bring back specific memories quite powerfully, and even our own old cassette tapes may hold priceless audio treasures that deserve archiving in a more secure format.

Bringing audio from old records, tapes, and other imperfect sources into Audition can be the first step in a superb restoration and archiving job. In this chapter, I'll introduce the tools in Audition that can help remove clicks and pops from old vinyl records, reduce hiss or other background noise in old tape recordings, and get rid of distortion, or clipping, in digital audio. Using these features will enable you to enjoy your precious audio keepsakes for a long time to come.
