Chapter 1. Adobe Audition Basics > Installing Adobe Audition

Installing Adobe Audition

If you've ever installed a program on a PC, you'll find the Audition 1.5 installation process to be straightforward. Before you get started, make sure that your computer system meets the minimum requirements (see the introduction to this book), and that you have your product serial number handy.

To install Adobe Audition

Insert the Audition CD into your computer's CD-ROM drive. The setup program should begin automatically; if it doesn't, browse to the setup.exe file on the CD and double-click it.

After the introductory screen, the setup program asks you to select a language. Choose one. Your choices are English, French, German, and Japanese (Figure 1.1).

Read and accept the end-user license agreement.

On the next screen, enter a name, organization, and serial number (Figure 1.2); then click Next.

Figure 1.2. You'll be asked to enter a user name, organization, and serial number during the installation.

You'll find the 24-digit serial number on a sticker on the back of the Audition jewel case.

Select a destination on your computer's hard drive for the Audition program files (Figure 1.3); then click Next.

Figure 1.3. You can accept the installer's default destination folder for the Audition application files, or click Change to make your own choice.

A default location will be offered, typically in the Program Files folder, which guarantees that Audition will be accessible from the Start menu. You may also specify your own choice by typing it or browsing to an alternative location.

In the next window, you'll see the default file associations the setup process will create for Audition (Figure 1.4). Any file of a type associated with Audition will open in Audition by default once the installation is complete. Accept the default settings, or make changes as you see fit. Then click Next.

You'll see a window indicating that the setup program is ready to install Audition. Click the Install button, and the process will begin. When it's complete, the setup process will finish (Figure 1.5), and you'll be prompted to restart your computer.
