Chapter 7. Using VST Instruments > Saving and Reusing VSTi Settings

Saving and Reusing VSTi Settings

Remember that VST instrument selections and settings are saved with projects, which is one of the great advantages of using them. You don't need to worry about setting the knobs and buttons each time you use the VSTi—they will be set in precisely the same way when you open the project the next time.

In addition, sometimes you may want to save the settings of a VSTi as a preset. For example, you may want to use the same sound in more than one project, or you may want to send the instrument settings to a friend who is using the same VSTi. Cubase refers to these user settings as instruments, and Cubase can save these presets as discrete files that you can load into another project or e-mail to another Cubase SX user.
