Chapter 7. Using VST Instruments > Opening the VSTi Editor

Opening the VSTi Editor

Every VSTi has a window for editing the sound parameters for the instrument. Some instruments are photorealistic renderings of real-world hardware, some are strange, never-before-seen tools for manipulating sounds, and some are just a bunch of sliders and knobs. Regardless of what kind of VSTi you use, you access the panel that controls its parameters in the same way.

To open the editor for a VSTi

1.
Open the VST Instruments panel if is not already open.

2.
Find the slot in the virtual rack that contains the VSTi that you want to edit. Click the Edit button—the cursive e at the far left of the slot with the instrument name (Figure 7.9).

Figure 7.9. Click the Edit button—the cursive e—to open the editor window for the VSTi in that slot.

The editor for that VSTi opens (Figure 7.10).

3.
When you are done editing the instrument, close the editor.
