Chapter 17. Uing External Effects > Monitoring the Effect Results

Monitoring the Effect Results

The previous two examples show you how to route audio to the proper locations, but you have to be able to hear the result of the external effect. There are several ways to do this, either using external hardware or through Cubase.

  • You can use an external hardware mixer to mix the effected signal with the master output from Cubase.

  • If your sound card has a mixer control panel, you often can use this instead of an external hardware mixer.

  • You can monitor using an input channel in the Cubase mixer.

  • Depending on the latency of your sound card, you may be able to monitor with Cubase by selecting the inputs on your sound card for a channel that is record enabled.
