Chapter 17. Uing External Effects > Configuring VST Connections

Configuring VST Connections

To use an external effect, you'll need to have the correct VST connections active, and you should name them if possible.

To configure VST connections for external effects:

1.
From the Devices menu, select VST Connections.

2.
On the VST Connections panel that opens, select the Outputs tab (Figure 17.1).

Click the Add Bus button (also visible in Figure 17.1) to open the Add Bus panel.

Select a stereo or mono bus, depending on the kind of effect you're using, and click OK (Figure 17.2).

On the right side of the VST Connections panel, select the physical outputs for the external effect.

Figure 17.3 shows outputs 7 and 8 for my sound card being set up as outputs.

If a particular effect will be used permanently on a certain channel, you might want to name the VST connection for it (Figure 17.4).
