Routing External Effects

Using software effects is certainly easier than working with external hardware. If you are using VST or DirectX effects, all of the routing and processing happens right inside the computer, and all of your parameters and settings are saved with the project. Cubase even manages the plug-in latency for you in some circumstances.

Using external effects is a bit more cumbersome than using software, but it's not all that difficult once you understand how the process works. This is the basic procedure:
