Chapter 15. Rewire And Cubase > Starting and Closing ReWire Applications

Starting and Closing ReWire Applications

ReWire applications need to be started and stopped in a particular order to work correctly. This is because one ReWire application will always be the master (telling other applications when to play), and all others will always be slaves to that master application. The ReWire slaves get their tempo and synchronization information from the master application, and the first ReWire application opened will always be the master. Most of the time, you will want Cubase to be the master, with the other applications slaves to it, so you should follow this sequence when working on a Cubase/ReWire project:

1.
Start Cubase.

2.
Start the ReWire applications.

3.
When you are finished working, close the ReWire applications.

4.
Close Cubase.
