Chapter 5. Recording MIDI > Punching In Using the Locators

Punching In Using the Locators

The left and right locators can make MIDI recording much easier and more convenient, particularly if you are recording alone. The locators for MIDI tracks work the same as the locators for audio tracks, so if you can use one set of locators, you can easily use the other. You can use the locators to automatically start, stop, and loop MIDI recording and playback. Using the locators for recording involves both the ruler in the Project window and the Transport bar.

The simplest use of locators is to start recording at a certain time. If you set the locator correctly, you can start playback anywhere before the punch-in point, and Cubase will automatically start recording at the locator.
