Creating an Audio Track

Before you can record any audio, you need an audio track to which you can record. Cubase SX has many kinds of tracks that you can use, including audio tracks, MIDI tracks, and automation tracks. They can be added singly or in groups.

To create a single new audio track

1.
In the Project window, right-click (Windows) or Control-click (Mac OS) the track list.

A menu opens to let you create a new track (Figure 4.1).

From the menu, choose Add Audio Track.

The Add Audio Track dialog box opens, (Figure 4.2) allowing you to choose the kind of audio track you want to create. Choose either Stereo or Mono and click OK. For now, ignore all of the other options.

A new audio track is added in the Project window (Figure 4.3).
