Chapter 13. Mixing Surround > Configuring Surround Outputs

Configuring Surround Outputs

When you set up your outputs for surround, you use the same section of Cubase as when you set up your stereo or effects outputs: VST connections. The exact setup you have will determine the kind of busses you use, but the basics will be the same. The following example shows how to configure a 5.1 setup.

To configure surround outputs

1.
From the Devices menu, select VST Connections.

2.
In the VST Connections panel that opens, click the Outputs tab.

3.
Click the Add Bus button (Figure 13.1).

4.
In the Add Bus panel, select 5.1 as the type of bus (Figure 13.2) and click OK.

5.
In the VST Connections panel, the new bus will be visible. Click each of the six outputs and select the hardware output on your sound card for the correct speaker (Figure 13.3).
