For almost 30 years, nearly all music has been mixed in two-channel stereo. There have been exceptions, of course, and flirtations with various schemes to put more than two speakers around the listener, but stereo has remained king of the castle. In contrast to the stereo-centric world of music, Hollywood has been mixing movies in surround for years.

Very slowly, music mixers are also becoming surround aware. With more consumers owning decent-quality home theater setups, there is a ready market for those willing to release their music in surround. Luckily, you as a Cubase user have some of the best surround mixing tools available.
