AutoPan

If any MIDI effect in Cubase is poorly named, it's AutoPan (Figure 12.17). Anyone seeing the name would sensibly assume that the effect is used to modulate the pan setting for a MIDI device. Although AutoPan certainly can do this, it actually does much more and can be used to generate a huge variety of MIDI continuous controller information. For example, an AutoPan-generated controller can be used to generate controller data for nearly any parameter on any MIDI device, such as volume, filter cutoff, and delay time.
