Chapter 11. Mixing Audio > Soloing and Muting Mixer Channels

Soloing and Muting Mixer Channels

Mixer channels can be soloed and muted just like tracks in the Project window. In fact, wherever you click the button to solo or mute a track, the effect is the same. The following example shows how to solo two adjacent audio tracks.

To solo a mixer channel

1.
In the mixer channel you want to solo, click the S button (Figure 11.13).

Figure 11.13. Clicking this button solos the channel.

When a channel is soloed, the Solo button becomes red, and all other tracks are muted. The X (Mute) button becomes yellow. Only the soloed track will play back.

2.
To hear another track, click its Solo button (Figure 11.14).

Figure 11.14. More than one track can be soloed at the same time.

Now only these two soloed tracks will be heard.

3.
To return to hearing the entire mix, click the selected Solo buttons again to deselect them.

When all of the Solo buttons are deselected, the entire mix is audible again.
