Assigning Group Channels

The final channels in the Cubase mixer are the group channels. A group channel (Figure 11.46) is like an audio metachannel. A group channel plays back audio only when another channel (such as an audio, VSTi, or ReWire channel) is configured to send audio to it. Group channels do the same thing that audio bus channels do on more complex hardware mixers, but because they are part of a digital mixer, group channels offer additional flexibility for routing and effects.

Figure 11.46. Giving a group channel a descriptive name makes it much easier to figure out what should be routed to it.
