Chapter 6. Entering MIDI Manually

Chapter 6. Entering MIDI Manually

You don't have to use an external device to record MIDI data in Cubase. While this is often the best way to get music into Cubase, there are some situations when you simply won't have a controller handy for recording. In addition, some people find creating certain parts, such as bass lines and programmed drum beats, easier to do manually by entering them from the computer keyboard or with the mouse.

Cubase offers many ways to enter MIDI data by hand, but the most commonly used tools are the Key editor and the Drum editor. This chapter will get you going with these editors, showing you how to create MIDI notes and how to edit basic parameters to change the way the notes sound.
