Chapter 10. Editing MIDI > Quantizing with a Groove

Quantizing with a Groove

After extracting your groove information, using it is almost identical to using any other quantizing operation. You just need to select it as your quantizing source.

To quantize using a groove as the source

1.
Select the notes you want to quantize in a MIDI editor, or select a MIDI part in the Project window.

2.
In the MIDI menu, select Quantize Setup (Figure 10.61).

Figure 10.61. Open the Quantize setup for groove quantizing.

3.
In the Quantize Setup panel, click the Presets menu and select the groove you have just created (Figure 10.62).

Figure 10.62. The just-created groove is available in the Presets menu.

4.
Close the panel without clicking the Apply Quantize button.

5.
Choose the notes or part you want to quantize and select MIDI > Over Quantize to apply the timing of the groove to the selected MIDI part (Figure 10.63).

Figure 10.63. Groove quantizing is applied just like any other quantizing, in this case using the contextual menu.
