Chapter 10. Editing MIDI > Viewing Any CC Message

Viewing Any CC Message

The menu in Figure 10.28 shows only some of the more common CC messages that you can create and edit in Cubase. In fact, there are 128 CC messages, and there are situations in which you might want to use any one of them.

One of the most commonly used parameters is Modulation. Nearly every keyboard synth made, and most other MIDI controllers, have two wheel controllers on them somewhere. One is called the pitchbend wheel and is used to bend the pitch of the notes being produced. The other, called the modulation wheel—or mod wheel—sends CC data that is usually connected to one or more parameters on the presets in the keyboard. The mod wheel is invaluable for controlling both hardware synths and VST instruments because almost every keyboard has this tactile controller. The following example demonstrates how to show modulation data in a Controller lane in the Key editor.
