Chapter 8. Basic Audio Editing > Creating a Fade-Out

Creating a Fade-Out

To create a fade-out, you reverse the procedure that you used to create a fade-in.

To fade out an audio event

1.
Click with the Arrow tool to select the event that you want to fade out.

2.
Position the pointer over the blue triangle in the upper-right corner of the event.

The pointer changes to a pair of opposing arrows (Figure 8.29).

Figure 8.29. The fade-out point is ready to be moved.

3.
Drag the triangle to the left (Figure 8.30).

Figure 8.30. Dragging to the left to move the fade-out point.

4.
Release the mouse at the point where you want the fade-out to begin.

The blue triangle shows where the fade-out starts, and the waveform will update to show the change in volume (Figure 8.31).

Figure 8.31. The fade-out is set; note that both the fade-in and fade-out are reflected in the change in the waveform.
