Writing Automation with the Draw Tool

One of the most useful tools for writing automation is the Draw tool (or pencil). It's particularly powerful because it's very visual—you can see the audio as you are making the changes to the mix. There are tons of applications for this tool, but this example and the next one show two of the more common ones.

Musicians often play an extraneous sound or inadvertently hit an instrument or microphone while performing. You can deal with this problem in a couple of ways, but mixer automation is one of the easiest and most visual approaches.
