Chapter 14. Audio Effect Plug-Ins

Audio effects date back to the earliest days of recording, and many different effects are used today in all styles of music. If you have ever recorded in a studio, you have probably used hardware effects, implemented through devices such as compressors and delays.

Steinberg pioneered the use of software effects, usually referred to as plug-ins. Unlike the hardware effects units in the racks of a recording studio, these effects run completely inside the computer. Now, instead of using external hardware or having to learn a whole new application to apply reverb or chorus to a track, you can use effects to accomplish everything within Cubase itself.
