Chapter 9. Advanced Audio Editing > Creating an Event from a Region

Creating an Event from a Region

You can easily drop regions into the Project window to create new events. This is a very simple way to grab the right take from within a larger clip that was cycle recorded, or to place single sounds, samples, or hits somewhere in a project. Any region in the Regions list can be moved into the Project window as an event

To convert a region to an event

1.
Move the pointer to the Regions list.

Regardless of the tool being used in the Sample editor, if you move the pointer to the Regions list, it will turn into an arrow.

2.
Click to the left of the region name (Figure 9.55) and drag over the Events display in the Project window.

Figure 9.55. You must click to the far left of the region name for this process to work.

In the Project window, a blue outline shows where the event will be created if the region is dropped at the current mouse position (Figure 9.56).

Figure 9.56. As you drag over the Project window; the outline and numeric display show where the region will be dropped.

3.
Release the mouse to create the event in that location.

The new event appears in the Project window (Figure 9.57).
