Trimming Regions

The Edit window’s Trimmer tool lets you shorten regions, or lengthen them up to the full length of the original audio file on disk. Trimming is useful for fine-tuning region boundaries, and for restoring region segments that may have been arbitrarily deleted during editing.

To trim a region with the Trimmer tool:

1.
Click on the Trimmer in the Edit window (Figure 10.45).

2.
Move the cursor near the start or end of the region until the Trim cursor appears.

3.
Drag the Trimmer to the left or right to shorten or lengthen the region, respectively (Figure 10.46).

The region is shortened or lengthened by the desired amount. If you’re trimming a stereo region, both channels are trimmed.
