Transferring Audio from CD (Macintosh Only)

Pro Tools lets you transfer audio tracks from a CD using the Import Audio From Other Movie command. This imports the track as a QuickTime movie, and then converts it to the session’s file format.

To import a CD audio track:

1.
Insert an audio CD into the CD-ROM drive.

Choose Movie > Import Audio From Other Movie (Figure 8.30).

Select the audio track to be imported, and click Convert.

The Save dialog box appears.

Click Options (Figure 8.31).

The Audio CD Import Options dialog box appears (Figure 8.32).

5.
Select a sample rate, bit resolution, and stereo format.

6.
In the Audio Selection area, set the range of audio to import by adjusting the Start and End times.

Click OK.

Specify a destination for the imported audio track and click Save.

Pro Tools imports the CD audio track as a QuickTime movie and the Track Import window appears (Figure 8.33).

Click OK.

Pro Tools converts the audio to the selected parameters, and imports it into the Audio Regions list. From there you can drag the audio region to an existing track.
