Chapter 6. Getting Ready to Record > Recording to a Click Track

Recording to a Click Track

No matter how musically proficient you are, recording to a click track is a good idea. A click track provides an absolute time reference, which can help you produce takes with a steadier feel. It can also help you keep your tracks properly aligned later on when you’re overdubbing, editing, and mixing.

Although Pro Tools LE cannot generate its own audible click track, it does provide a MIDI-based click feature that lets you trigger a click track from an external MIDI sound module. You can also trigger a click track from within your computer by using OMS and the QuickTime Musical Instruments software synthesizer.
