14.10. 3D Compositor

This section describes some of the most important issues regarding the implementation of the MPEG-4 3D compositor. This implementation interfaces to the core classes to visually render a scene graph containing 3D and 2D BIFS nodes, ensuring that objects in the scene are drawn at the correct location in the correct order.

The 3D compositor is part of a complete application, often referred to as the MPEG-4 3D player, encompassing all of the MPEG-4 Systems' functionality (the core code, plug-ins, and 3D compositor) along with a frame application providing windows and menus. Although the 3D compositor and frame application are separate modules, they have been developed and maintained together. Figure 14.10 shows a sample screen shot of the MPEG-4 3D player.
